How it helps

Snaps every pixel to the nearest color in a curated craft palette.
Traces clean region boundaries per color, reusing the marching-squares contour tracer.
Numbers every region large enough to hold a legible label; tiny regions still get an outline.
Download the template as SVG with a printable color legend. Each output uses 1 credit; processing is browser-local and nothing is uploaded.

Best practices

  • - High-contrast photos with clear color blocks make cleaner, easier-to-paint templates than busy scenes.
  • - Increase the minimum label size if small regions end up with numbers too small to read once printed.
  • - Print the SVG at your target canvas size so the numbers stay legible.
  • - Match the generic color names to the closest paint you own, or mix custom colors to match.

Limitations

  • - Colors are a curated, generic set, not a specific paint brand's exact numbered catalog.
  • - There's no automatic color-count reduction yet; busy or gradient-heavy photos can produce many small regions.
  • - Region numbering uses the palette index directly rather than a difficulty-optimized ordering.

FAQ

Why do some regions have no number?

Very small regions are still outlined so the shape stays accurate, but skip the number since text that small wouldn't be legible once printed. Raise the minimum label size to number more regions, or fewer, larger ones.

How many colors will I need?

It depends on your photo — the tool reports the exact count used. High-contrast, simpler photos naturally use fewer colors than busy, gradient-heavy ones.

Can this print at a specific canvas size?

Yes — the SVG is sized in millimeters from the output width you set, so it prints true to size at that width.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The photo is processed entirely in your browser. Sign-in is required only when you download or copy an output, which uses 1 credit.
