How it helps

Sized in grid units (e.g. a 42mm module) so trays with different unit counts still align in a drawer.
Finger-joint walls with one egg-crate divider per unit boundary — every compartment is one grid unit.
Set unit size, width/depth in units, height, material thickness, kerf, and finger width.
Export a laser/CNC-ready DXF or SVG. Free, browser-local, nothing uploaded.

Best practices

  • - Pick one unit size (e.g. 42mm) and reuse it across every tray you cut for the same drawer.
  • - Cut a test piece first to dial in kerf for your laser — it changes how snugly the dividers seat.
  • - Lock dividers to the base with tabs if the tray will be lifted or carried; leave unlocked for easy rearranging.
  • - Thinner material needs a narrower finger width to keep enough fingers per edge.

Limitations

  • - This is a flat laser-cut tray, not a stackable 3D-printed bin — it isn't compatible with 3D-printed Gridfinity bins.
  • - Every compartment is exactly one grid unit; multi-unit compartments (e.g. spanning 2x1 units) aren't supported yet.
  • - No stacking lip or magnet holes — it's an open-top tray only.

FAQ

Is this compatible with real Gridfinity bins?

No. It's inspired by the same idea of a shared grid module so trays line up, but it produces a flat, laser-cut, finger-joint tray — not a stackable, 3D-printed Gridfinity bin with magnets and a lip.

How do I get bigger compartments?

Increase the unit size itself (e.g. from 42mm to 63mm), since every compartment is exactly one unit square in this version.

What does locking dividers do?

It cuts small tabs on the dividers that pass through matching slots in the base panel, so the grid stays put when the tray is picked up.

What materials work?

Plywood and acrylic in the 3mm-6mm range are typical for drawer organizers.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The layout is generated entirely in your browser and the tool is free with no sign-in.
